Boost Your Blog With Pinterest

With so many blogs out there, it’s hard for people to find yours. So lead them to your great content with free tools like Pinterest!

The reasons people blog are nearly as varied as the writers themselves. But most bloggers share one common factor. They hope others will find and read their content. And hopefully even love it enough to share it.

But with the great number of blogs out there expecting people to just stumble upon your blog is about as likely as them finding a needle in a haystack. So what’s a blogger to do?

Well, sharing articles to social media can help. And Pinterest is one of the best platforms as it’s also a powerful search engine with 175 million active monthly users. A place where people go to discover and save creative ideas, inspiring articles, or useful information. And for the record, most of their users are adults. So doesn’t it make sense to use for it for your own blog too?

Their help center is full of tips for getting started. But the main thing they stress is making sure each post has a pinnable image, and vertical images work best. They should be professional quality of at least 600 x 900 pixels, with some easily readable text that gives an idea of what your post is about.

This for me was the tricky part. Although I’m not too bad at graphics, I’m certainly no expert. And I found making these vertical graphics rather difficult.

And that’s why Canva is another great free tool to use.

This free graphic-design website tool lets you create beautiful designs, graphics, and documents. You can choose to edit one of their ready-made layouts for various platforms or documents , or start one from scratch. And even add free images and texts from their library.

But even with great tools making good quality graphics is harder than it seems. At least for me it was. After spending more than one entire day at it, I decided I needed help. And you might have the same difficulty.

The good news is that they also have helpful tutorials.

As I said, I’m no expert, but I think they made all the difference in the world for my graphics. They went from amateur to great in no time. And who knows? Perhaps with practice my future graphics will even start to look professional!

Graphics for my Proverbs Woman post: first try and final graphic.

Graphics for The Healthy Mediterranean Diet: First try and final image.

And graphics that came out pretty good on my first try. (If I do say so myself! 😉 )

with such great tools out there, why not give your blog a boost too?

You’ll be glad you did!

    1. It was mine too, until I watched the Canva videos, where I learned so many great tips. Now I’m managing to get the graphics in done in a fairly short amount of time, and believe it will go quicker all the time. I think a lot of it is about finding a new curve. (Not easy at my age, lol.) But worth it!

    1. Oh I’m so glad Dayle. I was halfway afraid that readers would think, “Why is she wasting our time with this?” When I discovered Canva I was just amazed at all the things it can help me do – and do pretty well. It’s a great tool!
